Snowboarding - John and I spent most of our weekends in Jan. and some in Feb. spending all Saturday on the mountains in the area. we went to a different one each time. i still think my favorite is Mount Sunapee, where i learned, but each has unique lifts, slopes, and lodges. one of my favorite parts of snowboarding all day is the feel of your legs after and the warm lodge!!
John's end of course test - he finally passed it! after taking several times, john passed his test for advancement qualification! he was stressed and was studying all the time, so i was happy he passed finally.
Walpole, NH - Valentine's day and eating at the Burdick's restaurant. we left for Valentine's and made the trip up north to complete a goal of visiting all the Burdick's locations and seeing their main headquarters. we stayed at the Walpole Inn, a bed and breakfast, just across the street from their main factory. we had a lovely room - squeaky bed - and a huge jacuzzi tube! the owner had just remodeled all the bathrooms. it was nice, but the water was hotter than expected and we almost ended up as lobsters!! the restaurant and our visit to Burdicks was great too. we didn't make reservations, so we were lucky we even got a table! overall a nice weekend! Oh and Dinah ended up staying at the Dillon's (they are her babysitters now!)...
Mary Poppins - john and i went to see this show at the Opera House. we sat on the mezzanine and were able to take in the whole view. john thought the show was done well, just had a hard time sitting through something different than the movie.
Singing with Katie - i have sang in church before... but duets with Katie Gatica are so much fun and turn out so good. we can blend well, so it's always enjoyable to sing together.
Museum of Science AND Museum of Fine Arts - john took me to both of these museum. we were both thinking our time in Boston is slowly coming to an end, so we wanted to visit all we can before we move.
Camping to hike-in site: Rhode Island - finally we were ready for a hike-to-site camping. we don't have the correct backpacks yet for true long distances BUT with mattress pads, a small stove, AND ready-to-eat military meals we are almost set. even dinah had a great time walking around the sites with us. she probably had too much fun exploring and ended up getting multiple ticks! i pulled off seven from two days of camping! it was too bad, but she didn't get a cut before we left and was still long-haired, sorry puppy!
GTMO - john left in may for an almost seven months straight deployment. i will create a separate blog post for this - cause well, seven months of alone time for both of us it defiantly something important. plus i did got to visit - so another fun vacation and travels!
New York City - while john was gone, i went to NYC! it was a Sherwood girl's weekend with john's mom and two sisters. i thought it would be awkward, but it turned out great. we saw Phantom of the Opera (2nd time for me), visited Ellis Island, saw Shakespeare in Central Park, went to church, ate the Burdicks location, and much much more. it was good to hang out with them and we were a silly bunch of ladies!
