i flew into fort lauderdale first, had a short layover in their small international terminal, handed in my goverment paperwork, and was on another small plane headed over the Carribean! i had flew part of this route before, but never in a small plane and never to Cuba. as i watched the ocean turn more blue with every mile, i was more and more excited. what will it be like was all i could think about. i ran into another Coastie wife making the trip so we were both excited.
when we landed it was more paperwork and checking in, more security for our luggage, and my first look at the base, CUBA, and the water. john was waiting, snapping pictures, and was all smiles standing outside the gate. i was excited but curious about the place.
he hugged me so tight when we were finally together and he was shaking. he only does that when he is really excited! he looked so tan and i totally wasn't imagining him that way! he looked good...too good... everyone was kissing and hugging anyway so we didn't see any need to hold back! it was hard enough to wait through the ferry ride and checking in at the hotel i was staying at... well too much for him anyway! i didn't care though, it was us again, together... like it should be!
we did SO MUCH that week and a half! john only worked the first night i got there so it was amazing to have all that time to ourselves! we rented bikes, swam in the ocean, wrote in the sand....
