Full time....well not at first!

so about 3 days after we returned from the honeymoon, i started work as a peir diem Audiologist at Lahey Clinic. i first found out about Lahey Clinic from a fellow co-worker at Mass Eye and Ear. i was hoping to start working at MEEI but apparently i appreciated my patients too much and actually spent quality listening to their issues, that i was not offered a position there. so, in my job search, i thought i needed to expand my balance knowledge to better become a well-qualified applicant in an interview. Audiologist do not do Balance testing at MEEI, so i observed their Balance center (techs and an Otologist interpreting all) and at Lahey Clinic. while at Lahey, i found that they were in search of someone due to two people going on maternity leave to cover both positions - pier diem, but actually with full-time hours due to the amount of help needed. as I didn't even start applying anywhere else yet, i agreed to come on.
it was a pretty sweet deal at first - filling in where needed, getting to do Balance testing, and leaving when the day was done instead of being stuck till 5pm. i got to work in multiple areas as in the diagnostic center, balance center, and in the Hearing Aid Center, which was never done before by an Audiologist. basically, all what i was doing at MEEI but with occasional balance testing. i began to slowlybecome involved in everything that Lahey does and even revamped their cochlear implant program! plus, i began writing protocols for advanced diagnostic testing and expanded the view of the practice.
after the maternity leaves were complete, both of the previous Audiologist decided to not return/go elsewhere and i was able to keep my position. eventually other Audiologist took their place and i became full-time about a year and a half ago just to be safe in my job. sometimes things are more difficult with personal issues and lately things haven't been so hot, but overall I do feel blessed that this opportunity. it came up at the right time or who knows where John and i would be right now. we were able to do a lot with my extra income, but mostly pay off my student loan private debt and live pretty good. i will miss the place when we transfer.
