2010 part 1...

so backtracking - again here is just some random updates of how our life has been and what I missed posting... now I will cover 2010 - part 1, Paris, and part 2. Paris has it's own post because, well, isn't it obvious, it's Paris...

deployments: John was randomly deployed for many things. John is apart of the MSST Boston - a direct reaction of 9/11 and Homeland Security's anti-terrorism plan. he is only an electrician so pretty safe on most deployments by staying in the background. i feel ok with him leaving, most of the time. i like to think he keeps things going (like being needed) and avoids breakdowns of the tiny but FAST boats they use. it is fun to hear about what he does and he makes me proud for the service he renders. here was just a few within the first part of 2010: D.C. State of the Union, Florida on board gun shooting practice, New York - 4th of July and the Red Bull Air Races, and Georgia for nuclear submarine escorts.

Dinah's surgery and my wisdom teeth removal: one evening while John was gone on a deployment, i came home to find Dinah had knocked over the barrier in our kitchen. apparently it fell on her back leg. she came limping out of the second bedroom when i arrived and looked so sad. her leg was all limp and i frieked out! i quickly looked up the nearest vet and drove Dinah there. they were awesome and we were able to seen right away. they took ex-rays of her leg and refferred us to a vet specialist. we were also able to be seen there right away and found that Dinah's leg was broken pretty severely. being so little it was just crushed! the specialist talked about options and surgery was the best. they had to put three toothpick like needles in her leg to bring it back to usable order. i left her there that night and set up a loan to start the payment processes. two days after i was scheduled for my wisdom teeth to be removed.... so dinah had surgery, i had surgery (way too long of a process), and i was able to pick her up a day after. we were quiet a pair hanging out at home after ... my swollen face and Dinah's purple cast!

Valentine's: john was home part of that week! we made a cute dinner and the next day John took me out on a date. John took me to a spanish restaurant and Build-a-Bear at Faneuil Hall! he gave me little sparky...a bear that says, 'i love you, i love you, i love you, i love you!' to remind me of him when he's gone. he made it a secret to what he recorded but it was really sweet.

New place: Medford, MA is our new place of residence. we were looking for a new place to save money and to get out of the expensive parking garage. our place in Malden was right across from the T so many people and expensive parking, plus way too expensive for a one bedroom! John searched Graig's list and found a cute 1st floor two bedroom in Medford. we basically moved a mile but also had to change wards! we are now in the Alrington ward but still drive about 20 minutes in traffic to church the opposite way. i do enjoy parking at the Belmont building and looking up the hill to the Boston temple though... i love that place!! we also bought new furniture for the new place and sold the old! everything new and already paid for!!

Pepper spray: OC - John had to be pepper sprayed at work to be able to carry it or be authorized to use if needed. they were trying to get him boat qualified so he can help stand watch on deployments. he doesn't really want to stand watch, but the 'needs of the service' right? he did not have a good day but got a sweet, painful looking video of it!!

Easter: Philly...for Easter it was General Conference and a quick trip to Philly! John had to deliver parts of a boat to Philidelphia for a deployment he missed and I got to go with. we stayed downtown on the governments dime and even sneaked Dinah into the hotel. it was a good time site-seeing and hanging with Kr, Ma, and Pe! Pe even shared his Easter candy. the only bummer is that we missed Conference, but we caught up on-line! i love how the church has resources like that!! oh and not to mention hearing living prophets speak, so exciting!!

Bonny rides, Boston Commons and Public Gardens: so John is not home most of the time, but when he is, we try to take advantage and spend quality time together. our many dates and rides on his motorcycle can be really fun (and random!). we went to the Commons and the Public gardens to commerate our first date. it was so nice to walk around and see the tulips! i do love Boston! plus it was fun to look back at the year and see how our relationship has grown. i am still getting to know my husband...

Camping June and August (Pillsbury state park): John and i love to camp! he made it a point this year to find places and actually go! we were limited to where we could go because of Dinah which is a bummer, but we did find some fun places. John always wanted a hike-to-site....so i found one but wanted to bring a cooler and a mattress pad! lol!! John hiked it in, but hated it!! "No more", he said! we were not prepared with the right equipment for the site at the time - like smaller hiking food items and pads for the sleeping bags. it was a good time as we did have the site and surrounding area to ourselves with a lake view, but i understand why it wasn't a good idea! however, John did insist on bringing his laptop to work on homework for on-line classes... so i put us as even!
Sick with tonsilitis: it seemed that every time we had a camping trip and the night temps would drop, i would return with tonsilitis. i swear i got sick about 4 times in just two months!

4th - family visits (mine and Johns): John was gone for most of July but I begged my family to come for the 4th at least. Mom, dad, Kr, Ma, Pe, and Em came via Jersey for that week. i was excited to see them for a time, but still had to work some days they were here. the 4th was fun downtown but hectic to get around after the fireworks. i think my mom didn't like that part, but enjoyed spending time off the Charles with family watching the fireworks. there is little more Patriotic than the 4th in Boston! we also visited the sites too so it was great to get around. i really needed my family here as i was lonely. John spent the week in New York for their 4th celebration and ended up watching the fireworks from the hotel room he was staying in.
John's family came that next week he was home. Grandma Sh and Do from Alaska also came early Oct. He was happy to see them and took alot of time off. another time of traveling and being tourists/quides in our home area!
