Moving

Moving - transferring - getting out of there, whatever you call it - we packed up and left. Well, contracted military movers packed up our stuff and we left with whatever we could fit in the Element - like Dinah, our plants, Bug's car seat, Bug's packn'play, etc... It is alot of pack for a baby! Plus our huge duffel bag and a couple of John's uniforms (including the nice one!). The movers came Monday at 9:30 and we got word they were coming at 8:30am! So yeah - not time at all to separate what we didn't want packed and what we did, so it was a huge mess. I did explain things to them specifically when they got there but to no avail. They packed basically what they wanted and not what I said - like food we were going to donate and John's travel gear. Nutz...my advise, I know it's more work, but do your own PCS move. I only didn't do it cause of little Bug, but I should have planned to have someone watch him for those couple hours.
Anyway - our stuff was gone by Monday evening. We had a few errands to run - last stop at Burdicks, visit Lahey Audiology, and to close our bank account included. We ended up leaving Wednesday afternoon. It was sad to drive out. Sad to leave a place where so much happened.

Place in Medford, MA - we had the bottom floor.

Here are some of the stops along the way. It was fun to travel with John and Dinah and little Mathew. Bug was such a good traveler as he likes his car seat. He slept alot and I was a little concerned about the night time, but he slept then too. Only one night was bad but it was probably too cold in the hotel. We stayed in Syracuse, NY - Erie, PA - Flint, MI - Mount Pleasant, MI - Gaylord, MI. We saw a lot of people I knew and it was a great reunion for me. John seemed to enjoy it and seeing Michigan.

Then finally to Cheboygan, MI. We drove around town and stopped to find the boat. It was ported down this beat up road, seemingly in the middle of no where. This is the view from the road. The area around it seems nicer but there is not much there. "It's just the boat", John says. "She runs her own." Oh joy, a new 'she' in his life...
John's new home for a while
We checked into house next. It is a cute place and nicer than what I expected. 3 bedrooms upstairs with a full bath. Downstairs is the kitchen, dinning/back area, half bath, big pantry, and spacious living room. All new carpets, new paint, new tile, and new toilets!

yeah for housing - the kitchen

dinning/back walk-in plus what we brought in the Element
Now if just our other stuff would get here...it was supposed to be here yesterday.....
