hello all,
i just returned back from trinidad friday from a hearing health care mission trip with the school. it was a blast and my first time out of the US of A. it was exciting to head out into the 'real world' where there isn't mcDonald's on every corner, ruby tuesday maybe - but not mcdonalds or a CVS or walgreens. the people were great there and everything turned out well - we ended fitting over 250 people with hearing aids and still had time to visit the beach! i apparently had all the ent referrals and hard cases, but everything worked out in the end.
i came back friday and wes was all open arms. he always gets that way when i leave for a while. after Christmas break, he was like a new-found puppy dog and wouldn 't leave my side. i thought that was absolutely adorable and i think we became alot closer due to the absence. he's amazing and SO cute...man, hmph! new years was great too - our friend greg ended up having a party at his condo on the beach. we had the little count down listening to the waves and shooting off our own fireworks. now i didn't get to see the ball drop BUT i did get my first new years kiss (wink, wink). it was funny cause everyone was watching us, but the smooch was good enough. i look forward to many new years kisses to come!
tonight i just got back from a double date with friends from church where we went to see I Am Legend. What an amazing concept that such a virus could wipe out the entire population of new york and beyond. in just three years everything was destroyed. Oh and the worst part, there were mutants - freaky screaming ones. i just marvel at the thought and talk about being alone... especially when he has to kill his dog because she started changing!! i thought it was great, but sad and exciting and scary all at the same time. throughout the whole thing though i couldn't help but think about how i would react if i was the one immune. the thought of losing everyone that i loved - well everyone in general - and especially wes really got to me. what is it like to be totally alone? would i chatt with manikins too? would the idea of losing wes make me go crazy? how would i help to find a cure?
