general conference

this past weekend was the 177th semi-annual general conference. i was especially looking forward to listening to wonderful talks because of my jumbled mind and out-of-focus-ness. when i arrived to the branch breakfast/luncheon before the saturday session, i saw a friend who hasn't been there in quite a while. i am not saying that this friend was not active in church, but just not in the area and serving elsewhere (serving being the important word). anyway, i was surprisingly excited and couldn't wait to talk to this friend. so just guess where my focus was during conference...
i did hear some important words during this conference. it seemed like the whole theme was about having a strong testimony and sharing it. missionary work is becoming more and more pertinent lately. there are just so many out there who do not realize who they are, where they are going, and what life is all about. a press conference was held between saturday sessions. the newly called apostle and 2nd counselor answered questions from the press. how amazing the church is to step out of the dark and lead the way out of obscurity. so many people out there need to know.
that made me think about my life and my role in missionary work. with all my focus being skewed, i realized that i was being totally selfish and only focusing on my un-focus-ness. i know that everyone is my brother and sister, and who am i to not try and help them. with all my un-focus-ness, i still know that there is an Heavenly Father who loves me, a beautiful gift called the atonement for everyone, and a wonderful church that explains it all. a testimony is not something to be hidden, but shared.
anyway, i did learn at this conference even though my mind was focusing elsewhere.

Keeping up with the Bonacci's said...

Right on Jen, that is the right attitude. Just remember that love is key when it comes to missionary work. All you need is love!
